Isuzu Trooper Insignia 3 litre diesel for sale in Cape Town £4,000

This is a one owner from new one careful experienced driver top of the range British registered 4x4 Isuzu. First registration 2000 (W) with 95,000 miles on the clock. It’s in excellent mechanical condition, with a few minor bumps and scrapes and a bit of a dent in the driver's door (done by some w*nker when it was parked in the street). It has a good CD player + radio and bluetooth.

I drove it with three friends from London to Cape Town last year, with no breakdowns and no getting stuck. It had planned maintenance of a new clutch (first since new), new rear brake pads, and new heavy duty rear springs and bump stops in Nairobi. I can't sell it in South Africa because of Customs regs, and I don't want to ship it back to the UK because it's expensive and who wants a 4WD in London!? It would be a perfect vehicle for someone who wants to do the journey in reverse.

It comes with a complete new spare rear differential which cost nearly £1800, as I thought it might be needed, but wasn't. Tyres are good on/off road tread pattern, about 30% worn, spare almost new, and an extra casing about 60% worn. Engine is superb, and uses virtually no oil - it's well known that Isuzu make the best diesel engines in the world. There is not much service history paperwork because I've used it almost exclusively in Asia and Africa, but it has been regularly serviced. I bought it new as a support vehicle for the 2000 London/Beijing Classic car rally which I was involved in, on the advice of experienced rally crew. When I asked them what spare parts to take, they said "none, you won't need any". I followed their advice, and after 95,000 miles it's still true. If you do need parts, you can get pretty well everything in Nairobi, and also in Cairo.

Included in the price are various bits of kit essential for an overland trip, like tool kit, cooler box, inverter, 2/3 man tent, 2 thermarests, 1 sleeping bag, etc. It is currently safely parked in Cape Town and is on a Carnet de Passages (international customs document) in my name. The buyer would need to undertake to take the car out of the Southern Africa Customs Union (which includes Namibia and Botswana) before September 30th 2011 and return the carnet to me for cancellation - you would also need a carnet in your own name to continue your travel through Africa. I'm happy to give the buyer loads of useful info about travelling through Africa (visas, road conditions, recommended routes, places to stay etc etc).

I'm returning to S Africa in August for a month to see more of the country, so the car will be available early September, but I might be prepared to sell it earlier for a premium. I’m currently in London, just email me if you’re interested.

Your vehicle is priced right for a quick sale however you will be waiting for a Brit to drive it back. I often get people asking about vehicles in Africa so take a look at my website to see if I can help.

Hi yes looks interesting. Couple of questions: assume your commission only applies if sold through you, as I've got a couple of other leads out there? Also what's the approx period between posting an ad on your site and getting a sale, or is it completely random? Incidentally it doesn't have to be a Brit buying it, any nationality will do! David

Hi yes it is still for sale, had a guy very interested but he's just pulled out. Happy to pay your commission if you can sell it. I'm arriving in Cape Town 4th August and going to drive around SA for a month, so it will be available from 3rd September, but can be seen by you or an intending purchaser during August, date depending on location. I can't remember where you're located, but it's pretty well bound to be on our route as we're doing CT, Garden Route, Durban, KZN, Joburg and back to CT down the middle.

All the best
David

PS Sending this direct to your email as well.

To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
