WANTED - Fridge/freezer in UK (London)

Hi Hubbers!!

Anyone got a small to medium fridge or fridge/freezer they want to sell to a good home? Preferably cheapish if that is possible!!! We're off in about three weeks so not long to go - this is very much a last minute thought that actually it would be pretty good to have cold s and meat on our trip!

Thanks in advance,
ness

Hi Greenbean,

instead of buying why don't you look at hiring one? I saw in one of the LR mags that MPS 4x4 are offering a hiring service. No idea of the cost, but having bought an Engel several years ago for £600 it is a tempting prospect, but it does depend upon the duration of your trip.

The thing you also really need to look at is the power consumption, alot of the cheaper fridges will frig your battery in no time. Also look into an aux battery - on most of my trips I have drained the aux battery as the duty cycle increases in hotter climates. I wouldn't want to run a fridge from the main veh battery.

cheers

Guy

Hi guy,
Thanks for the info. :-) We're going for 9 months though so may not work out that cheap to hire one!
We have a third battery set up in the boot of the cruiser, so should be sorted for power supplies.

You don't want to sell yours do you??

Cheers, Ness

Hi Agian,

afraid not, I need mine for a Morocco trip this Mar/ Apr. My wife moaned like ten men when I bought it, but now wouldn't do without it. They do occasionally come up on ebay and I have seen ones on military disposal sites once (it was used as a blood fridge).

Good luck trying to find one.

You need a 'big' deposit to hire a fridge from mps MPS 4x4.

If you have the funds....buy one and stick it back on ebay....you won't lose much as they rarely come up for sale.

A fridge is not essential in Morocco if you have a 'good well managed' coolbox. You can buy ice in supermarkets and hotels. And you won't need to worry about your battery.

We used a Coleman Xtreme coolbox for three weeks in Morocco and always had cold milk meat etc

If I were going for nine months ....I'd buy one tho.

Hi Dave,

Thanks so much for the offer, that sounds like a good deal, however I think it's just too big for our truck!! We are taking a lot of stuff and I don't think it will fit in!! I think a 40L one would be perfect, or smaller if one comes up for sale.

Thanks again,
Ness

Hi Fridayman (Et) - hope all is well with you and the family

60lt....that's going to be big bro. I was checking out the fit on the 40ltr yesterday and whilst I'd like a bigger fridge in some ways, I certanly don't want to lose any more space...

If you want to pop round and check it out at some stage, let me know. I'm about to strat sorting out the dual batteries over the next couple of weeks, hopefully with some help from Waz and Trent

Hi Rich. I'm looking at a camper trailer setup too, so a 60L fridge in the truck shouldn't be too much of a problem. If I run out of space I can always pull over, take out a cold , and think about what needs to be left behind.

I've been buying bits for my battery setup and just about ready to start the install - will email you later.
