15 litre Engel Fridge for sale / East Sussex

Engel MT15E 15 litre capacity rugged fridge. Works on 12 and 24 volts dc and also on mains 240 volts. Will freeze down to minus 18 deg C. Engel fridges are legendary for their durability in off road conditions, so are well suited for normal use.

Owned by me since 2002. I bought it from Taubenreuther in Ashford , Kent (now in Suffolk) for the sole purpose on providing cold drinks on my trips to the desert in a non air conditioned Land Rover. It was taken 3 times in 2003/4/5. Subsequent use has been limited to provoding an en suite fridge for my girlfriends father.

The unit is very clean with only a little marking on the removable lid.
It is complete with a 240 2 pin mains cable (use a shaver adapter for UK sockets), and a brand new genuine Engel 12 volt cable with cigarette lighter plug at one end. I replaced this as the original was hard wired in to the Land Rover and was pretty dog eared after 7 years.

A genuine unmarked transit bag/cover is included.

Buyer to collect please from Crowborough, East Sussex. Payment on collection preferred.

Looking for £200 including the cover. New ones I think are around £350 and £100 for the cover.

Any questions please call 0751 500 8263.

Thanks........

I have the same one, but from 1982. Then they would be 12 volt, and our land cruiser is 24 volt, so I have to use it via the transformer which I don't like. So only during driving I have it switched on. I would like to have a 24 volt one one day.

Mine also works on 24v I've just discovered. It's currently on ebay for 2 more days.

I saw that :-) But there is no budget here in my pocket. Or you might wish to own a classic version of yours, we could swap? :-)

Adventurous greetings,
Coen

Hi Andrew,
This fridge seems to be the size that a friend and i are looking for. However i have been informed that i should look for one which is 'dual fuel', gas and electric. Do you know if you can convert yours to dual fuel or is it 'as it is' so to speak?

compressor fridges are what you want - they work well and will work at angles

common caravan 3 way fridges take alot of amps on 12 volts and so need gas when parked up and have to be level. they also run on 2f40v but you'll need a genny or hookup and they are not the quality to sand up to rugged use

so what you need is a low wattage , probabily chest type fridge from the likes of engel, minus 40, national luna, shoreline, waeco (order does not imply any recomendation or preference) and of course how much space you have, my 101 landie had a 40litre minus 40 which was brill , others swear by engel etc etc

so if this is the size then it probabily pulls 12-20 watts an hour you'll be fine

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
