car in RSA

Hi,

Assuming you will bring it in on a Carnet de Passage, you will have to take it out of the customs area (RSA, Botsw, NAM, Leso, Swasi) once every year, which is the validity time for the carnet. Effectively that means you have to enter either Zambia, Zimbabwe or Mozambique once a year.

cheers,

Noel

Hello Mogg,

I follow on this old thread because I am also planning to take my mog to SA. Does anyone has direct experience on the one year expiration and how to deal with it?

For what I understand I have to exit SA custom - lets's say toward Mozambique - to close my carnet within the year of entrance.

But then I would need a second carnet to reenter from Mozambique if I plan to stay after the year expiration of the carnet?

And I cannot get a second carnet if I do not give a second deposit? Right?

I read of carnet substitution but I think this is done only if the AA gives a second carnet? And this is not the case with Italian AA.

My plan would me SA christmas 2013 - NAM May 2014 - BOTSW Aug 2014 -

And in Christmas 2014 (after one year from entrance ) Botswana - Zambia Mozambique and then Tanzania - Kenia in 2015.

Thank you for any help and suggestion on the Thread subject ( I will open another thread on parking suggestions...).

Hello

You can send your truck from Colombia to SA via Brazil. The shipper company is WWL( wallenius) . The people in Cartagena de Indias, Colombia , are very kind.

They send the truck to Brazil, and then another ship will take your car to SA.
YOU do not have to do any thing.

The ship will be in a very good hands. Do not worry. The Wwl company is the best.

The cost is around 6000€ plus the custom service in Durban port that will be around 1500€ more. You need a crane of passage to release the ship from the port.

The whole trip takes around one month.

If you have farther question this is my e mail
