Travel Through Germany on a
By Peter & Kay Forwood
Germany on a Harley
(23/8/10 - 24/8/10)
Distance 403 km (581918 km to 582321 km)
This is part of the sixteenth section of our
around the world trip.
Coming from Denmark or
visit to Germany
23/8/10 We don't see much when we ride in the rain.
for a McDonalds, buying a coffee to rent a dry seat for a while and use
the toilet. Nearing Hamburg, on the flats, the wind is strong enough to
have encouraged probably more than a thousand windmills, batches of
20-50 dot the countryside, and more are being built. Sticking as close
to the coast as reasonable we took a ferry across the massive Elbe
River, the one that Hamburg uses for its shipping, one of the worlds
largest ports. Took another caravan
park camp alongside the river,
behind the massive flood barrier, which we walked along in the evening,
once the rain had cleared.
24/8/10 Still a strong head wind but dry. Another small ferry just
north of Bremen, followed a canal towards the Netherlands and crossed
over mid afternoon, with more windmills lining the border.
