Triage Lights
Price:
$35.00
You have got to get these!!! a real life saver and so small but really a big idea for self preservation. http://www.triagelights.com/# I don't know about the rest of you but the older I get he more concerned my loved ones are when I go advernture riding alone or with a small group. I personally think that escaping technology is part of the reason but I still have people that rely on me so I have to be responsible and file a trip report and check in and out of remote areas. One of the best items that I've come across is a very light and easyly caried item call a Triage Light. Travellers toothbrush - ionic toothbrushManufacturer:
Soladey
Model:
Ionic toothbrush
Price:
about £10 6 years ago
I have used the Ionic toothbrush very effectively for about the last 6 years. You don't need water so there is no need to worry about finding fit supply or using what you do have. I use it mainly when travelling as it is very small and light and the spare heads don't take up loads of room either. It works by releasing negative ions that remove plaque by light hitting the rod inside the handle (a lightbulb works too). There seemed to be quite a lot of interest when I showed it in my talk so I hope you find this useful. Bering
Model:
Expedition 4 Season Jacket
Price:
€ 229
We've probably all done it, started the great quest to find one single piece of bikewear which will do everything, that jacket you can use from Siberia to Shepherds Bush to the Sahara. Maybe we're looking because we want to save space, maybe it's because we want to save money. My quest started and finished with the Bering Expedition. partly because I live in rural France and bike shops with touring gear are a bit thin on the ground, and partly because it does what it says on the tin. So on to the review. SPECIFICATIONS: Core Cooler - Keeping Cool In Extreme HeatManufacturer:
Core Cooler
Model:
Core Cooler Personal Radiator
Price:
$39.00
Was sceptical when I heard about the core cooler. Soak it overnight, wear it like a collar under your jacket - and it promises to keep you cool during extreme temperatures and hard riding. Also - promised to STAY cool for several days! TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE? No! Bought one, used it during a 5,000km trip across Botswana and Namibia and it worked MAGICALLY!! Hein Gericke - Tuareg MX BootsManufacturer:
Hein Gericke
Model:
Tuareg
Price:
£100
The boots I bought as a last minute rush buy, in the end, were Hein Gericke Tuareg's which cost around £100. They are full MX boots, with steel soles and shanks etc. After 5,000kms and 17 days of wearing my MX boots EVERY SINGLE DAY, and NOTHING ELSE - I feel I am now an expert to answer my own questions about it REV'IT OFF TRACK - Not Just ANY JacketManufacturer:
Rev'It
Model:
Off Track
Price:
£200
Being girls, we probably spend more time SHOPPING for actual pieces of kit, than WEARING them. IMAGINE how much thought, research and MIND CHANGING has gone on, in choosing the actual outfits that we're going to be wearing on our trans-africa trip! Three months. Day in and day out. The same outfit! Sweat, sand, rain and lots and lots of tears. OMG - has such a thing even been INVENTED by modern man, let alone become available for mere mortals to put on our gold cards?? As Long As You've Got Your ElkManufacturer:
Aerostich
Model:
Elkskin Roper
Price:
About $40 US???
They're extremely comfortable. After about 5000 miles they start to look cool. They're cheap. But if you find yourself trapped in a tent, so desperate for bladder relief that you inadvertently urinate over them, they will dissolve. (See fig. 2) BMW 1100RTWell my BMW was 10 years old when I bought it in 2006. It only had 4k on the clock and now shows 30k 18 months later. the fact that it had done so few miles probably coased the rear bearing to go and make diff seal pour all its oil over back tyre and rear brakes. the ride is always great even on the Norweigen roads. large tank great to. Hein Gericke Winter 2 finger glovesManufacturer:
Hein Gericke
Model:
Winter 2 Finger Gloves
Price:
£35
These gloves have now served two winters with distinction. Not only have they kept my mitts warm and dry they've also managed to withstand the stupid amount of salt on the roads last year. The gloves are just £34.99 from any Hein Gericke shop - or their website- which makes them cheap enough to replace each year if needed, but you'll probably get a lot more than one years use out of them. Tom Tom RiderManufacturer:
Tom Tom
Model:
Rider
Price:
250GBP
I’ve lived with the Rider for a little under six months now. I’ve gone through using it in rain, hail, snow, wind… for short rides, for France, for get out a jail free card when I want to go ‘off route’… and I love it… I’ll say now it has one serious short-coming, but I’ll come to that a little later.
